So again Jodie and I were out doing a photoshoot for her JTouchofStyle Instagram channel. And as we were wrapping up the session, my stomach told me that it was time for breakfast/lunch. BoB, Breakfast on Broadway, came to mind, and luckily it was nearby.
Now Breakfast on Broadway is a breakfast-lunch place where the locals come to enjoy some classic food dishes and a vibrant local atmosphere. There is an outdoor seating area that people love to take advantage of when the weather cooperates.
Eclectic Diner & Coffee House
I know what you are thinking. Rob this kind of sounds like a dive. Well to the contrary. Sure the place is a little dark and dingy but it has an eclectic diner/coffee house essence to it. And it is clean and the employees are friendly.
Reader alert. There is always a wait, especially on the weekends.
Did You Say Home Made Caramel?
So, usually, we start off with a caramel latte. This latte is so decadent. They make their own caramel and as you can see, they are very generous with their house-made whipped cream. The coffee is full and robust enough to stand up to all the sweetness of the caramel and whipped cream. A match (drink) made in heaven.
BoB Atypical Slight Miss of a Tasty Dish
This particular morning I ordered the special scramble which was the Greek scramble. This dish was very good with the taste of feta cheese, Greek olives, tomatoes and spices. However, they did add in an abundance amount of pepperoncini peppers. Unfortunately, they overpowered the dish.
If I order it again I would ask that they only put one pepperoncini pepper in the dish. Adding fewer peppers would make the flavors of the dish more balanced. The scramble was topped off with some house-made tzatziki sauce which was the saving factor for the dish. This tzatziki was the perfect balance of creaminess and tartness.
The sides of this dish included a potato pancake, fresh fruit, and toast. I really enjoy their potato pancakes as it has the great balance of softness of mashed potatoes on the inside with a lightly crisp crust on the outside. The simple spice of salt and pepper makes it the perfect side to any breakfast dish.
Of course, if anyone knows me I always order a side of bacon. And BoB’s bacon is the bomb.
Tasty Home Run
Jodie ordered the Ruben. This Ruben is loaded with amazingly cooked corn beef brisket, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, and thousand island dressing. It is called the Perfect Ruben on the menu for a reason. The ratio of meat, cheese, and dressing couldn’t be more superb.
You know sometimes when you order a Ruben that is not so good, there is hardly any meat or cheese and then the dressing is piled on to try and make up for the lack of the other ingredients. But not this Perfect Ruben at Breakfast on Broadway.
Oh my! Jodie in her infinite wisdom ordered the Gorgonzola cheese fries as her side. She usually orders fresh fruit or seasonal vegetables. But because one of my sides was fruit and because Gorgonzola cheese fries sound so yummy she went with them. The fries were crispy golden brown with just the correct amount of salt. And then here comes the Explosion of flavor. The Gorgonzola cheese! Say no more. And no I never got tired of the explosive flavors of these fries.
Thank you for stopping by and until next time!
Ciao! And buon appetito.
