My Beginnings as an Instagram-Blogging Husband
So in 2017 I “retired” from my last job to becoming an Instagram and blogger husband. In this post allow me to show you a day in the life of an Instagram-blogger husband.
What does this mean? Please check out one of my favorite YouTube videos is I am an Instagram husband because it describes with humor what my life has become.
Actually, it has been a fantastic journey! And I thought I would give you just a peek inside my every day “day in the life” of my Instagram-blogger husband’s world.
Let’s begin with what my life norm has become. It is safe to say that it is now a requirement that no matter where we go or who we are with, I must be always ready to do a photoshoot. I need to always have with me either my DSLR Nikon camera or my or Jodie’s phone camera.
Turn Here – I am a Lucky Man
Another common occurrence that has developed in my life is the unexpected driving experience. So let me explain. Quite often now when we are driving along a road, I all of a sudden hear from my wife in a loud voice with animated motions signaling to pull over or take the next left. With the minimal warning of course.
My apologies to all the drivers I have cut off or annoyed with my Instagram husband driving.
Where We End Up
Anyway, unknowingly to me in the beginning, after my harrowing turns and stops we would arrive only to go to an office building, a park, the library, a shopping center, or a school to take 10 minutes of photos. I now look at office buildings in a different light. I have come to discover that many office buildings, especially during the weekend are great places to take photos.
Also, always and I mean always, whenever we go out of the house we must allocate time to get some pictures either for the blog, or mostly for Instagram. This time allocation is planned even if we are just going out for dinner. Or even if we are just going downtown Littleton, Golden, and now Sun City AZ to one of our favorite coffee shops.
Oddest Background
Let me tell you about my all-time, I guess favorite, in an odd sort of way, shoot. This was when we couldn’t find any suitable backgrounds to stage a photoshoot. Our time allocation was dwindling, which is especially stressful before say when we are attending an event at Mile High Stadium. And we have 5 minutes before the event starts. I am admitting yes, we use dumpsters as a photoshoot background. Now granted after the photo is cropped it does look great. My wife has such a creative eye for photo staging background places and items.

Am I Feeling It?
Ok, now I am starting to feel the zone about always being ready to get the shot. This is after taking some online courses, learning from my wife, and gleaning information from my fellow Instagram-blogger husbands. This obsession with getting the perfect picture has put me in some precarious positions.
I have found myself in the middle of the road, trusting that my photo subjects will warn me of approaching traffic. Thank you, Charlotte for always looking out for me.
I have fallen off walls, braved the winds, ran through torrential rains, knelt in dog pee, and slipped on the ice among other mishaps. All to get the perfect shot. Pride, what pride?
Interesting Statistic
An interesting article in the New York Times stated that In the year 2000 a record-setting 80 Billion pictures were taken. in the year 2017, there were 1.3 TRILLION pictures taken. We’ve come a long way baby!
Selfies Anyone?
To continue giving you a glimpse behind the curtain of my now incredible life as an Instagram – Blogger husband. So I would be remiss if I did not mention the huge invasion it has become into my life. The selfie. It’s usually Jodie taking our selfie shots but sometimes I confess it’s me as well.
And yes sometimes I get to be the subject in front of the camera, which is not my favorite place to be. But it is all part of the role I am now in.
I did receive two free shirts from a company called Under 5’10 for being in Jodie’s IG campaign.
Sometimes I am not aware that my picture is being taken. You can see below that I was caught singing to Jodie. And dopey me of course Jodie would be taking my picture. Very embarrassing.

What is the best thing about this new adventure? Taking this journey side by side with the love of my life. And spending time with Charlotte, Jodie’s mom, Nancy, Jodie’s stepmom, and now Lesley who has become one of our BFFs.
Another great benefit is that I get to meet some pretty amazing people and make some cool new friends. In addition, we get to explore some great places together as well. Places and activities we did not have time to do when we were working.

Of course, let’s not forget the food. We make it a point to try different restaurants after our weekly photoshoot sessions. Because as you know for me it’s all about the food.
So there it is a small glimmer into my new life as an Instagram – Blogger husband.
Pretty sweet if I say so myself.
Thank you for stopping by and until next time!
Ciao! And buon appetito.
